Razgrad will
celebrate 130th anniversary from its Liberation
With
many ceremonies and festive atmosphere Razgrad people will celebrate the
Day of Razgrad.
28th of January is announced as A Day of Razgrad with Resolution ¹
192.1, Protocol ¹ 27 îò 27.12.1993 of the Municipal Council. On this
date the town was liberated from Ottoman rule. Razgrad people have
welcomed with flowers and songs their liberators – the Russian troops
from 1st Division of 13th Army Corps, led by Prince Alexander
Dondukov-Korsakov. The grateful population of Razgrad with voluntary
grants constructed a Mausoleum of the Russian troops, opened officially
on 14th October 1880 in memory of the Liberation of Razgrad.
The Day of Razgrad was commemorated for the first time on 28th January
1994. Traditionally, Mayor of Razgrad becomes godfather of the children,
born on this date.
On the occasion of the 125th anniversary, with Resolution of the
Municipal Council during the ceremonial session held on 28th January
2003, Prince Alexander Mihaylovich Dondukov-Korsakov was bestowed in
memoriam as “Honoured citizen of Razgrad”.
Delegations from the twin towns of Orel, Russia and Calarasi, Romania
will be among the official guests this year.
The official events will start on 23th January with town basketball
tournament. At the same day there will be a concert of the group
“Gramophone” at 18:00 in the Municipal Culture Centre.
On 24th January at 14:00 will start the 44th edition of run-cross
“Osvobozhdenie”. At 15:00 in the Regional Library “Prof. Boyan Penev”
there will be a photo-documentary exposition “130th anniversary from the
Liberation of Razgrad”. The folklore ensemble “Balgare” will present the
performance “Bulgaria throughout the centuries” at 19:00 in the
Municipal Culture Centre.
On 25th January at 9:00 in the Agriculture and Food-processing industry
Secondary School will start the table-tennis tournament “Osvoozhednie”.
“The old Razgrad” is the theme of the coming exhibition with paint works
from the fund of the Art Gallery “Prof. Iliya Petrov”, which will be
opened at the same day at 17:30 in the Foyer of the Municipal Culture
Centre.
On 26 and 27 January at 10:30 in the sports hall “Ludogorets” a
badminton tournament “Osvobozhdenie” will be held.
On 27th January at 11:00 is the concert-matinee of Razgrad Philharmonic
Orchestra, dedicated to the Day of Razgrad.
The Day of Razgrad itself – 28th January will begin with ceremonial mass
lithurgy in the “St. Nikolay Wondermaker” Church.
On a special kid party the Mayor Dencho Boyadzhiev will greet for their
birthday all 14 godsons, born on this date since 1994.
Youth information and consulting centre will open in the Students’
Centre for Scientific and Technological Works.
The Regional historical museum will present the exhibition “Firearms and
blank weapons from the Revival and Russian-Turkish Liberation War”.
A ceremonial session of the Municipal Council – Razgrad will be held on
28th January.
The holiday will finish with ceremonial meeting with fireworks and a
concert with the participation of the representative ensemble “Slavitsa”
from the city of Orel. There will be as well a ceremonial bestowment of
the award “Honoured citizen of Razgrad”.
The national trade exposition “Bulgarian Fair of Fashion” will be held
from 28th January to 2nd February in the sports hall “Ludogorets”.
